At The Final Horn Recap | Sabres fall in OT after Red Wings' comeback

Dylan Larkin scored with 3:53 remaining in overtime to clinch a 3-2 victory for the Detroit Red Wings over the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center on Monday.
Buffalo led 2-0 midway through the third period. Vladislav Namestnikov put Detroit on the board with a shorthanded goal with 9:39 remaining in regulation. Larkin netted the tying goal less than four minutes later.
Henri Jokiharju and Jeff Skinner scored goals for the Sabres. Aaron Dell made his third straight start in goal and made 32 saves.
Alex Nedeljkovic made 26 saves for the Red Wings.

How it happened

Jokiharju opened the scoring with a shot from the left point at 9:56 of the first period. The shot beat Nedeljkovic through traffic off a faceoff win in the offensive zone, with Alex Tuch setting a screen.
Tuch beat Nedeljkovic on a rush during the second period, but his goal was taken off the board after Detroit successfully challenged an offside entry. Tuch was involved yet again on Skinner's goal, which saw Tuch win a battle in the corner and send the puck to the slot. Tage Thompson put an initial shot on goal and Skinner buried a turn-around attempt on the rebound.
Dell carried a shutout into the back half third period on the strength of multiple point-blank stops, including a pair of attempts from the slot by Pius Suter and one on Namestnikov.
Namestnikov finally beat Dell with a shorthanded goal at 10:21 of the third period. Larkin followed with the tying goal at 13:28.
Larkin netted the winner at 2:07 of the overtime period, burying a high shot from the right circle.
The Red Wings outshot the Sabres, 35-28.

Worth a mention

• Defenseman Mattias Samuelsson made his season debut and skated 18:32. Samuelsson was recalled from Rochester prior to the game with defensemen Jacob Bryson (upper body) and Colin Miller both out due to injuries.
• Skinner has five goals and six points in his last six games.
