Ryan O'Reilly (Canada) and Johan Larsson (Sweden) are representing their countries at the 2018 IIHF World Championship, which is being held in Denmark throughout the month of May.

Sunday, May 20

SWE 3 - SUI 2 (SO)

Larsson helped Sweden to its second-consecutive gold medal with a 3-2 shootout win over Switzerland on Sunday. Gustav Nyquist and Mika Zibanejad scored goals for Sweden while Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Filip Forsberg tallied in the shootout.
Larsson finished the tournament with one assist in 10 games. This is his second gold medal at an IIHF event, having previously won gold at the World Junior Championship in 2012.

USA 4 - CAN 1

O'Reilly came up short in his bid for a medal as Canada lost 4-1 to the United States in the bronze medal game on Sunday. Nick Bonino scored a power-play goal for Team USA to break a 1-1 tie with 6:39 remaining in regulation.
O'Reilly tallied one shot in 17:54 and ends his tournament having scored four goals in 10 games, tied for third on the team.

Saturday, May 19

USA 0 - SWE 6

Larsson and Team Sweden will play for gold on Sunday after steamrolling Team USA 6-0 in their semifinal matchup on Saturday. Viktor Arvidsson led the way with two goals while Anders Nilsson made 20 saves.
Larsson finished with 11:33 of ice time.

SUI 3 - CAN 2

Sweden will play Switzerland after the Swiss upset O'Reilly and Team Canada 3-2. O'Reilly had two shots in 19:30 of action.
The bronze medal game between the U.S. and Canada will be played at 9:45 a.m. ET on Sunday and the gold medal game will follow at 1:15 p.m.

Thursday, May 17

RUS 4 - CAN 5 (OT)

O'Reilly was the overtime hero as Canada topped Russia 5-4 to advance to the seminfinals. O'Reilly redirected a pass from Connor McDavid with 5:03 remaining in the extra period.

The goal was on one of seven shots for O'Reilly during the contest in which he logged 18:38 of ice time.
On Saturday, Canada will play Switzerland in a semifinal game at 1:15 p.m. ET after the Swiss upset Finland.

LAT 2 - SWE 3

Meanwhile, Larsson skated 10:33 as Sweden defeated Latvia 3-2. They'll next face the U.S. in the semifinals on Saturday at 9:15 a.m.

Tuesday, May 15

CAN 3 - GER 0

O'Reilly and Team Canada defeated Germany 3-0 on Tuesday, locking themselves into third place in Group B.
O'Reilly finished the game with three shots on goal and 17:53 of ice time. Brayden Schenn, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Tyson Jost scored for Canada while Darcy Kuemper earned the shutout.
They'll take on Russia in Thursday's quarterfinal matchup.

RUS 1 - SWE 3

Sweden defeated Russia 3-1 in the late game with Larsson contributing two shots in 12:49. The Swedes overcame a 1-0 deficit with goals from Mika Zibanejad, Richard Rakell and Mattias Ekholm.
They've clinched the top overall seed and will face Latvia on Thursday.

Monday, May 14

CAN 2 - LAT 1 (OT)

Connor McDavid scored 46 seconds into overtime to give Canada a 2-1 win against Latvia on Monday. Anthony Beauvillier opened the scoring 2:51 into the game before Latvia's Kristans Rubins tied it early in the third.
O'Reilly had one shot on goal in 16:39 of work.
Canada will take on Germany on Tuesday while Larsson and Team Sweden will face Russia to close out round-robin play.

Sunday, May 13

SUI 3 - SWE 5

Team Sweden remains undefeated in preliminary round play after a 5-3 win over Switzerland on Sunday. Larsson skated 11:58 with two shots on goal. John Klingberg, Patrick Hornqvist, Mikael Backlund, Adam Larsson and Magnus Paajarvi scored for Sweden.
Their final game of the round will come on Tuesday against Russia.

Saturday, May 12

SVK 3 - SWE 4 (OT)

In Group A play, Larsson posted one shot and was a plus-1 in 12:34 of action in Sweden's 4-3 overtime win over Slovakia on Saturday. Mika Zibanejad was credited with the game-winning power-play goal.
Slovakia took an early lead, but Sweden battled back to go ahead 3-1 in the second. Slovakia wouldn't go quietly as they rallied to tie it midway through the third. Gustav Nyquist, Dennis Everberg and Jacob de la Rose also scored to help Sweden remain undefeated.
Tre Kronor is back in action on Sunday against Switzerland.

CAN 1 - FIN 5

in Group B, O'Reilly and Team Canada lost 5-1 to Finland. O'Reilly took four shots on goal and logged 17:55 of ice time in the defeat. The Finns rattled off four unanswered goals to hand Canada its first regulation loss of the tournament.
Canada will play again on Monday against Latvia.

Thursday, May 10

NOR 0 - CAN 5

O'Reilly skated 12:39 and was a plus-2 in Canada's 5-0 win over Norway. Connor McDavid recorded a hat trick and Bo Horvat tallied twice for Canada.
The Canadians are now winners of three straight following their tournament-opening shootout loss to Team USA.
Both Canada and Sweden will be back in action on Saturday. Sweden has the early game against Slovakia at 6:15 a.m. ET while Canada takes on Finland at 2:15 p.m.

Wednesday, May 9

Larsson tallied an assist for his first point of the tournament in Sweden's 7-0 win over Austria on Wednesday. Sweden remains undefeated with four regulation wins in four games, giving the country sole possession of first place in the Group A standings.
The Swedes already led by six goals by the time Larsson fed Magnus Paajarvi to cap the scoring with 6:11 remaining. Larsson also tallied one shot in 13:47.
Rickard Rakell (2+1) and Mattias Janmark (1+2) scored three points each for Sweden, which has shut out three of its first four opponents in the preliminary round.
Sweden continues its tournament against Slovakia on Friday. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:15 a.m.

O'Reilly scored his third goal in three games to help lead Canada to a 7-1 win over host country Denmark on Monday. Canada has now won back-to-back games after losing its tournament opener against the United States in a shootout last Thursday.
O'Reilly's three goals place him in a tie with forward Tyson Jost for the Canadian lead. His latest was the product of a strong feed from Josh Bailey, who squeezed the puck between two defenders to find O'Reilly alone in front of the net. The Sabres' alternate captain flipped the puck in off his backhand.
Canada also received goals from Jost, Bailey, Aaron Ekblad, Jordan Eberle and a pair from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
Canada returns to action against Norway on Thursday. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:15 p.m.

Larsson and Sweden skated to a 4-0 victory over France on Monday, joining Russia as the only two teams with regulation wins in each of their first three contests. Sweden has outscored its opponents 12-2, the second-best differential in Group A.
Larsson recorded two shots in 14:04. Rickard Rakell, Mikael Backlund, Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Elias Pettersson scored goals for Sweden.
Sweden continues its tournament against Austria on Wednesday at 2:15 p.m.

O'Reilly scored his second goal in as many games as Canada earned its first win of the tournament in convincing fashion, a 10-0 blowout against Korea on Sunday morning. O'Reilly's goal was one of six scored by the Canadians in the second period.
Matthew Barzal of the New York Islanders earned the assist on the goal, finding O'Reilly alone to the right of the net. O'Reilly picked the far-side corner off his backhand.

O'Reilly finished the game with two shots in 14:19.
Canada continues its tournament against Denmark on Monday. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:15 p.m.

SWE 3 - CZE 2

After leaving the tournament opener with an apparent injury on Friday, Larsson was back on the ice for Sweden in its 3-2 win over the Czech Republic on Sunday. The forward recorded one shot on goal in 15:02.
Mattias Janmark, Rickard Rakell and Mika Zibanejad scored goals for Sweden, which earned its second win of the tournament.
Larsson and Sweden return to action against France on Monday. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:15 p.m.

Friday, May 4

USA 5 - CAN 4 (SO)

O'Reilly began his bid for a third gold medal with a first-period goal, but Canada ultimately fell in a shootout, 5-4, in their World Championship opener against the United States on Friday morning. O'Reilly's goal, scored off a rebound, gave the Canadians an early 2-0 lead.

Pierre Luc-Dubois, Anthony Beauvillier and Colton Parayko also scored for Canada. Cam Atkinson scored twice for the U.S. in the five-round shootout.
O'Reilly, an alternate captain for the third-straight year, led all skaters with eight shots. He's scored a combined 35 points (13+22) over 45 games in five prior tournaments, including a pair of gold medal-winning runs in 2015 and 2016. He scored six goals and three assists en route to silver last year.
O'Reilly and the Canadians will try again for their first win against Korea at 6:15 a.m. on Sunday.

SWE 5 - BEL 0

Larsson was held without a shot in 6:44 in Sweden's 5-0 win over Belarus. Sweden was led by a three-point night (1+2) from Rickard Rakell, while Mattias Janmark, Mika Zibanejad, Gustav Nyquist and Lias Andersson also scored goals. Anders Nilsson made 27 saves for the shutout.
Sweden continues its tournament against the Czech Republic on Sunday. Puck drop is scheduled for 10:15 a.m.
