Patrick Kaleta was back on the ice as the Buffalo Sabres completed an 8 a.m. workout at HSBC Arena.

The winger was practicing with his usual linemates in Paul Gaustad and Matt Ellis after being given a maintenance day by Head Coach Lindy Ruff on Monday.

Mike Grier was among familiar faces as well, paired with Jochen Hecht and Tim Kennedy.

As for the first two units, Thomas Vanek skated with Derek Roy and Jason Pominville, while Tim Connolly centered Clarke MacArthur and Drew Stafford.

For now, it seems the likely scratches for Wednesday night’s contest against the Washington Capitals could be Adam Mair, Nathan Paetsch and Andrej Sekera.

The team left for D.C. immediately after practice.
