The Buffalo Sabres swapped one forward for another Friday morning.

After missing the previous three games, Drew Stafford will return to the Sabres lineup tonight against the Ottawa Senators.  Stafford suffered the concussion in the two teams previous meeting on Dec. 26.

"I'm ready to go," said Stafford following the team's morning skate.

Stafford will need to get adjusted to a new pair of new linemates.

Skating for the past weeks with Derek Roy and Thomas Vanek, the second-year pro replaced Maxim Afinogenov on Paul Gaustad's and Daniel Paille's line during practice on Thursday when the dynamic winger tweaked a groin muscle.

The injury will hold Afinogenov out for the first time this season.

"Max won't play," said Ruff.  "Right now we've got him at day-to-day, but it looks like it could be a number of days before he plays.

"[Stafford] is back in the lineup."

After Afinogenov misses tonight, the number of Sabres that have played in all of Buffalo's 39 games will drop to eight:  Brian Campbell; Paul Gaustad; Jochen Hecht; Toni Lydman; Nathan Paetsch; Jason Pominville; Derek Roy; and Thomas Vanek.
