The Buffalo Sabres went just 1-for-6 on the power play Thursday night in their 3-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators at KeyBank Center.
Kyle Okposo was Buffalo's lone goal scorer and Craig Anderson stopped 25 of 27 shots.
Zach Sanford, Austin Watson and Brady Tkachuk scored for Ottawa. Anton Forsberg made 23 saves.
Buffalo managed 10 shots on those six power-play opportunities. The Sabres were 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.

How it happened

Okposo scored his 11th goal of the season on the power play, cutting in with a great deke to put Buffalo on the board with 6:23 remaining in the first.
The Senators tied the game with 3:56 left in the second period when Sanford connected on a pass from Tyler Ennis.
Ottawa jumped ahead 2-1 with 9:11 to go in regulation. Watson deflected in a Nick Holden shot.
Buffalo did not record its first shot on goal in the third period until there was 4:52 left. They were outshot 8-4 in the final period.
Tkachuk's goal came on an empty net with 17 seconds left.
