The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has recalled forward Joel Armia from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Armia (5/31/93, 6'3", 201 lbs) joins the Sabres for his first career recall since he signed an entry-level NHL contract with the organization in June 2012. The Pori, Finland native currently has 16 points (7+9) in 21 games for the Amerks, including four multi-point efforts. Armia scored once and took a game-high five shots on goal in Rochester's 4-2 loss to Milwaukee on Saturday.
Drafted by the Sabres in the first round (16th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft, Armia finished second among Amerks rookie skaters with 27 points (7+20) in 54 games last season. He also led Rochester with six points (3+3) in five games during the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs.
