Some late-game heroics from Schneider and Catenacci lifted the Amerks over the Senators on Saturday in Binghamton. Schneider scored with 45 seconds left to break a 1-1 tie and Catenacci added his second-straight empty netter to ice the victory.
Cal O'Reilly kicked things off with a goal midway through the first and the Amerks held that lead until Francis Perron scored to tie it up 12:19 into the third. Schneider finished with a goal and an assist. He leads the Amerks with 8 points (3+5) through five games.
Ullmark was solid in net, turning aside 38 shots to earn 1st Star honors.
With the pair of victories, Ullmark improved his save percentage to .926 and lowered his goals-against average to 2.75. He's now up with the Sabres to back up Anders Nilsson tonight in Philadelphia as Robin Lehner recovers from an illness.
With 6 points, the Amerks (3-2-0-0) currently sit in third place in the North Division, four points behind Albany and two points behind Toronto.
The Amerks will head to St. John's this weekend for games on Friday and Saturday. Both matches start at 6 p.m.
