Fans at Joe Louis Arena needed to put a run to the concession stand on indefinite hold Monday night as the Red Wings and Dallas Stars played an impressive 10:09 of the first period without a whistle.
The Red Wings won the game, 4-1, but no goals were scored during the whistle-less half period. All 18 skaters for each team had shifts during the 10:09 period.
For the Red Wings, Jonathan Ericsson
led the way for defensemen with 4:07 of ice time, while Pavel Datsyuk
(3:01) and Henrik Zetterberg
(2:54) were the tops for forwards.
For the Stars, defenseman Mark Fistric had 4:02 of ice time, while rookie Tom Wandell led the way among the forwards with 2:50, followed by James Neal (2:48).
In all there were eight shots taken during the 10:09, four by each team. There also were 14 hits, eight by the Wings, six by the Stars.
