DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings today announced that forward Riley Sheahan has been recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. Sheahan will join the Red Wings as they prepare to face the St. Louis Blues tomorrow afternoon at 12:30 p.m. at Joe Louis Arena (NBC and 97.1 The Ticket).
Sheahan, 21, was Detroit’s first-round selection (#21 overall) in the 2010 National Hockey League Entry Draft. He has appeared in one career NHL game, making his Red Wings debut in Detroit’s season finale against the Chicago Blackhawks on April 7, 2012. The St. Catherines, Ont., native registered three shots on goal and four penalty minutes in 6:03 of ice time.
Sheahan is currently in his first full season with Grand Rapids. The 6-2, 212-lb. center has collected 35 points (16-19-35) and 31 PIM in 67 games this season. He is currently tied for third on the Griffins with six power-play goals and ranks second with two shorthanded tallies.
