DETROIT -- The Red Wings today announced that goaltender Jordan Pearce has been recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. Detroit has also loaned goaltender Joey MacDonald to Grand Rapids in order to make room for Pearce on the active roster.

Pearce, 25, is currently in his second full season as a professional, splitting time between Grand Rapids and the Toledo Walleye of the East Coast Hockey League. Originally signed as a free agent out of Notre Dame, he has appeared in 11 games for the Griffins this season posting a 5-3-1 record, a 3.00 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage.
Pearce enjoyed a stellar senior season for the Fighting Irish in 2008-09. He was a finalist for the Central Collegiate Hockey Association’s Player of the Year Award after leading the nation with 30 wins and eight shutouts, and finishing second in goals-against average (1.68).
