DETROIT -- The Red Wings today announced that forward Jan Mursak has been recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. Mursak is available to play Wednesday in Ottawa when the Red Wings take on the Senators (7 p.m. EST on FOX Sports Detroit and 97.1 The Ticket).
Mursak, 23, returns to the Red Wings after playing two games for the Griffins during the National Hockey League All-Star break. The Maribor, Slovenia, native has appeared in 14 games for Detroit this season, making his NHL debut on December 27 at Colorado. He notched his first career goal in a return to the Pepsi Center in Denver on January 10.
At the time of his recall, Mursak had collected 24 points (11-13-24) in 35 games for Grand Rapids. He currently ranks among the Griffins’ team leaders in plus-minus (+8, tied 3rd), goals (11, tied 4th) and points (24, tied 5th).
