DETROIT – The Red Wings announced today that the limited edition “Wings of Glory” alumni offset lithographs are now on sale to the public. Commissioned by the Detroit Red Wings Alumni Association, less than 200 of these beautifully designed prints were created and feature renderings and autographs from all the Red Wings players who participated in the 2013 Alumni Showdown at Comerica Park on Dec. 31.
Two unique prints of “Wings of Glory” were created by artist Ed LaPere – a “Players” and a “Legends” print. The “Players” print features all the Red Wings participants in the Alumni Showdown, whom were selected for the game by either their Hockey Hall of Fame status or their inclusion on the Stanley Cup as a member of the Red Wings. The “Legends” print also features all the Red Wings who skated in the Alumni Showdown, along with autographs from Gordie Howe, Alex Delvecchio, Ted Lindsay, Scotty Bowman, Mike Ilitch, Jimmy Devellano and Ken Holland.
"When I was selected to join the Detroit Red Wings Alumni Showdown team, my first thought was what a great thrill to be part of such a memorable event,” said Hockey Hall of Fame inductee and former Red Wings star Dino Ciccarelli. “My next thought was to create a once-in-a-lifetime keepsake commemorating this great event with a cast of players that has never been produced before and probably will not ever be created again with such an incredible lineup."
The purchase of an offset lithograph is tax-deductible and will support one of the many charitable organizations partnered with the Detroit Red Wings Alumni Association, such as the Wounded Warriors Project, Gleaners Community Food Bank and the Folds of Honor Foundation.
