Wings make strides to 'Go Green'

DETROIT -- The Red Wings and Joe Louis Arena are doing their part to become more environmentally friendly by “Going Green” Tuesday, March 9 as the Red Wings take on the Calgary Flames at 7 p.m. EST (FS Detroit & 97.1 The Ticket).

 
Joe Louis Arena will receive an extensive energy audit through Carbon Credit Environmental Services (CCES) which will provide The Joe with new innovative options to reduce energy savings and be more energy efficient. Throughout Tuesday’s game, fans can learn the latest facts and figures to create a “greener” community.     
 
The Red Wings equipment staff is also on board with supporting green efforts through a pilot recycling program they have created and implemented in cooperation with Schupan Recycling.  The program goes beyond recycling just beverage containers to include a variety of locker room equipment including daily recycling of: broken composite hockey sticks, steel skate blades, plastic skate blade holders, plastic visors and a variety of textiles including used t-shirts, skate laces and towels. 
 
Single-game tickets for the entire 2009-10 season are available at the Joe Louis Arena Box Office, all TicketMaster locations including, Hockeytown Café, Hockeytown Authentics in Troy, Mich., or charge by phone at 800-745-3000.  Fans also can purchase tickets by logging on to DetroitRedWings.com. Remaining regular-season home games include: 3/9 vs. Calgary, 3/11 vs. Minnesota, 3/13 vs. Buffalo, 3/22 vs. Pittsburgh, 3/24 vs. St. Louis, 3/26 vs. Minnesota, 3/30 vs. Edmonton, 4/1 vs. Columbus, 4/3 vs. Nashville and 4/7 vs. Columbus.
