The Red Wings control their own destiny when it comes to making a run in the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Win tonight, and they'll be on the fast track to their 24th consecutive playoff birth. Tonight Detroit will face-off with Atlantic Division rival/potential first round match-up, the Montreal Canadiens. The Habs have gotten the better of Detroit this season, winning all three games the clubs have played, Detroit did manage to get a point out of an overtime loss back in October.

Tonight, goalie Jimmy Howard will make his second start in a row. Forward Justin Abdelkader could play against Montreal after missing the past two games because of a hand injury, but Erik Cole will miss the rest of the regular season and Stanley Cup playoffs, should the Red Wings clinch a berth because of a spinal cord contusion.

Welcome to the Detroit Red Wings Gameday Blog, where you can get behind-the-scenes information, thoughts from the players and staff, and up-to-date news on anything and everything Red Wings in game day.

You can watch tonight's 7:30 PM match-up on Fox Sports Detroit, or listen in with Ken Kal and Paul Woods on 97.1 The Ticket or AM 1270.
