Detroit is still hampered by a glut of injuries. Three lineup regulars are on injured reserve and several others are dealing with issues that keep them questionable from game to game. Detroit called up rookie defenseman Alexey Marchenko for the start of a four-game road trip because Danny DeKeyser is battling a groin issue.

In their most recent game, the Red Wings dropped a 3-2 game in a shootout against the Toronto Maple Leafs in front of more than 105,000 snow-covered fans at the 2014 NHL Bridgestone Winter Classic, held New Year's Day at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Red Wings fell to 1-7 in shootouts this season and have lost 12 of their past 13 shootouts when including last season's results.

"I was really mad," forward Tomas Tatar, who lost the puck off his stick during his attempt, told's Ansar Khan. "Maybe I should have tried something simpler instead of trying to stick-handle. Maybe I should have gone down and shot it, but that's not my style. I like to stick-handle a bit."

Tonight, the Wings will look to get back on the right track in Dallas.
