As the shootout woes continue for the Red Wings, it has been the polar opposite for the New York Islanders. The Isles come to town with a perfect 9-0 record in overtime with six of those being won in a shootout. In contrast, the Red Wings have dropped their past four games, three of which ended in a shootout. The good news is, forward Johan Franzen, who missed Tuesday night's 1-0 loss against the Columbus Blue Jackets due to an illness, expects to play against the Islanders.

“I’ve just been battling flus, stomach flus, regular flus, for the last few weeks,” said Franzen, “I just haven’t been able to get healthy. Beginning of this week I just felt really, really awful, like no energy, nothing. I figured I needed a couple days just to get healthy.”

Having the Mule back in the lineup playing with Sheahan and Tatar should spark some offense for Detroit after only scoring four goals in the past four games. Nonetheless, Detroit will look to put an end to their recent struggles tonight against the New York Islanders with Jimmy Howard between the pipes.
