It has been 373 days since the Red Wings and Jets have last squared off. Winnipeg swept the two-game season series last season including a 4-2 home victory on Nov. 4. Both teams are coming off wins, but Detroit will have a new line up after placing Smith on the seven-game IR. Xavier Ouellet got the call up from Grand Rapids last night who played four games with the Red Wings in 2013-14 and had a goal and four assists in 13 games with Grand Rapids this season.

After obtaining his first shutout of the season, Jimmy Howard will get a break tonight. Goaltender Petr Mrazek will start against Winnipeg.  In eight career starts with the Red Wings, Mrazek has produced a 3-5-0 record with a 1.80 goals-against average, a .926 save percentage and two shutouts.

“He's got a swagger about him. He thinks he's good and he plays good,” Wings coach Mike Babcock said.
