DETROIT -- The Red Wings are working to prevent frostbite and keep residents warm in the 13th annual “Motor City Mitten Madness” clothing collection.
Together with the Detroit Receiving Hospital Burn Center, the Wings are asking fans attending the next two home games to join in by donating items to keep our less fortunate residents warm.
The collections will take place at Red Wing games on November 27 and 29 at Joe Louis Arena.
Fans attending Detroit’s home games on those days against the Calgary Flames and Tampa Bay Lightning, respectively, are asked to bring clean, new and used blankets, gloves, hats, scarves and other winter wear items to collection bins at Joe Louis Arena.
The clothing will be distributed to Detroit area shelters and warming centers to aid in the prevention of frostbite among the homeless. Monetary donations will also be accepted.
Each donor at the two games will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win autographed Red Wings' memorabilia. One winner will be announced at each game and must be present to win.
Single-game tickets for home games in November and December are currently on sale through the Joe Louis Arena box office, Ticketmaster outlets, at www.DetroitRedWings.com or by calling 248-645-6666. Season tickets at just $22 per seat are available in six, 12, 22 and 31-game packages.
