CHICAGO -- Tomas Holmstrom
scored two goals and Dominik Hasek made 24 saves to lead the Red Wings to a 4-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday night.
Kyle Calder had a goal and assist in his first game with Detroit, which is 10-2-2 in its last 14 games.Johan Franzen
also had a goal and an assist for the Wings, who improved to 5-0-0 against Chicago this season and are 11-1-1 against the Blackhawks over the past two years.
Hasek lost a bid for his seventh shutout with a minute left in the third period when Jeff Hamilton scored on a wrist shot.
The Blackhawks are 1-4-2 in their last seven games. Their leading scorer, right wing Martin Havlat, sat out with the flu.
Calder was acquired by Detroit on Monday in a three-way trade with Chicago and Philadelphia. He had played 59 games with the Flyers this season.
Jason Williams, who was sent to Chicago in the deal, was in the Blackhawks' lineup.
Chicago's Nikolai Khabibulin blocked 24 shots.
Calder, who started his NHL career in Chicago, opened the scoring 1:46 into the first period on his first shift with Detroit.
After sneaking in behind the Chicago defense to the slot, Calder took Franzen's centering pass from behind the net and ripped it past Khabibulin.
Hasek came 15 feet out of the net to make a sliding pad save on Chicago's Rene Bourque with 3 seconds left in the first.
The Blackhawks had a 5-on-3 power-play for 1:35 early in the second, but managed only three shots on Hasek. One of their best chances was blocked and cleared by Detroit defenseman Andreas Lilja.
Holmstrom made it 2-0 with 7:09 left in the third. From the edge of the crease, he knocked in Pavel Datsyuk
's centering pass from the left side of the net.
Franzen's spinning goal with 58 seconds left in the second period extended Detroit's lead to 3-0.
Holmstrom made it 4-0 with a power-play goal at 9:18 of the third. He converted a rebound of Datsyuk's shot.
Hasek stopped Patrick Sharp on a breakaway with 2:20 left, but the goalie's bid for career shutout No. 75 was ruined 1:20 later.
GAME NOTES: The Wings acquired RW Todd Bertuzzi
from Florida before Tuesday's trade deadline for C Shawn Matthias and conditional draft picks in 2007 and 2008.
