Wings ask fans to donate detectors

by Staff Writer / Detroit Red Wings
The Red Wings will host their annual smoke detector collection drive at the next three home games beginning Saturday, November 4. All donated smoke detectors will be given to low-income residents in metro Detroit.

Concerned with the number of house fires in metro Detroit, the Wings have joined forces with law enforcement agencies to assist in the collection and installation of detectors to low-income residents.

The team will hold collections at Joe Louis Arena on Nov. 4, Nov. 8 and Nov. 10. Fans who donate new detectors with batteries at these games will be given the chance to win Red Wings memorabilia, autographed by Henrik Zetterberg. The star forward will match the total of all detectors collected with a personal donation.
