DETROIT -- The Red Wings will open their 2013 training camp at noon on Sunday at Compuware Arena in suburban Plymouth. The camp will be highlighted by a special Red vs. White game on Tuesday at 6 p.m., as the Red Wings' American Hockey League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins will combine with the Wings' NHL players. The event will feature general admission seating. Doors to Compuware Arena will open at 5 p.m.
Tuesday’s Red vs. White game and all practices leading up to the season opener at St. Louis on Saturday, are open to the public and free of charge. The Red vs. White contest also will be carried live by both Fox Sports Detroit, with Ken Daniels, Mickey Redmond and Larry Murphy, and on 1270 AM with Ken Kal and Paul Woods.
Following a day off on Wednesday, the week-long camp will move to Joe Louis Arena on Thursday and Friday, with continued open to the public practices.
Detroit’s first home game is scheduled to be played on Jan. 22, versus the Dallas Stars. Tickets to this match and all 24 of the Red Wings’ 2013 home games are set to go on sale this coming Thursday at 1 p.m.
As part of the Red Wings' "Thanks for Sticking with Us" initiative, the club and Ticketmaster have teamed up for 35 hours of no fees for any regular-season ticket purchased.
