DETROIT -- The Red Wings, Audi, WJBK Fox 2 and HOUR Detroit magazine present the seventh annual Toast of Hockeytown, a wine tasting event to benefit the Detroit Red Wings Foundation and Children's Hospital of Michigan, from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7 on the ice and in exclusive Olympia Club in Joe Louis Arena.
The event offers guests the opportunity to join the Wings team for an elegant evening of wine tasting, fine liqueurs, a strolling buffet, great silent and live auctions and the chance to mingle with members of the current team, alumni and other celebrities.
This year guests will also have the unique opportunity to tour the Red Wings' locker room. In addition, this year's event will be expanded onto the ice surface where fans can experience a unique view of the arena while enjoying some spectacular food and wine.
Items available in the silent auction include autographed jerseys from NHL stars Paul Kariya, Joe Sakic and Mats Sundin; autographed memorabilia from the Detroit Pistons, Tigers and Lions, in addition to other great non-sports related items including spas, salons and restaurants. The live auction will feature exclusive items such as a team set of game-used autographed sticks, the chance for two to fly with the Wings to an away game on Red Bird II later this season and jerseys worn by the players during the game on January 2 when the Red Wings retired Steve Yzerman's No. 19 jersey.
A limited number of tickets are available at $250 per person and can be ordered by calling 313-396-7575. Guests must be 21 years of age to attend.
