DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings today announced that forward Tomas Tatar has been reassigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. Tatar was recalled onto Detroit’s active roster for last night’s game against the Nashville Predators but did not dress. He has appeared in 26 games for the Griffins this season, posting 21 points (7-14-21) and 17 PIM.
Tatar, 21, was Detroit’s second selection (second round, 60th overall) in the 2009 National Hockey League Entry Draft. The Ilava, Slovakia, native appeared in nine games for Detroit during the 2010-11 season and scored in his NHL debut on December 31, 2010, against the New York Islanders.
Currently 19-10-1 on the season, the Red Wings return home to host the Los Angeles Kings (14-13-4) tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. (FOX Sports Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket). The first 2,500 kids ages 12-and-under through the doors at tomorrow night’s game will receive a Red Wings draw string sweatshirt bag, courtesy of Meijer.
