SAN JOSE -- The Detroit Red Wings will conclude the West Coast leg of their current four-game road trip against the San Jose Sharks on Thursday night at SAP Center.

Puck drop between Detroit (7-5-4; 18 points) and San Jose (6-9-3; 15 points) is set for 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT on Bally Sports Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket in Detroit).
The Red Wings dropped their fourth straight game on Tuesday, falling, 3-2, in overtime to the Anaheim Ducks. Detroit scored first and led twice, but gave up a late equalizer with 46 seconds left in regulation.
"We probably are where we are as a 7-5-4 team," head coach Derek Lalonde said. "We're an NHL .500-type team flirting with the middle of the pack. But when we've done things correctly, we've shown that we can be successful in this league."

Andrew Copp is set to play his 500th career NHL game on Thursday, while associate coach Bob Boughner will face the club that he spent parts of the last three seasons with as head coach.
Boughner, who was Detroit's 32nd overall pick in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft, was hired by the Red Wings on July 8. And according to Lalonde, Boughner has been "just a huge resource not only for myself, but the rest of the staff."
"I've had this experience a couple times with a couple other coaches during my time in the NHL," Lalonde said. "Just as someone who has been around the league so much, as a player and as a coach, he's just that guy who can be that voice where it's done this way or that way."

The Sharks edged the Vegas Golden Knights, 5-2, on Tuesday for their third straight victory. San Jose's penalty kill has been strong to start the season, as its 91.5-percent success rate ranks second in the NHL, just behind the Boston Bruins (91.7 percent).
Erik Karlsson leads the Sharks in goals (10), assists (14) and points (24), while Tomas Hertl (4-11-15) has seven points in the last five games. San Jose goalie James Reimer is 5-5-2 with a 2.81 goals-against average this season.
The Red Wings and Sharks will battle once more this season, dropping the puck at Little Caesars Arena on Jan. 24, 2023.
