Red Wings recall Joakim Andersson

DETROIT –  The Red Wings today announced that forward Joakim Andersson has been recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League.  Andersson, 22, has appeared in all 29 games for the Griffins this season, posting 17 points (8-9-17) and 16 PIM.


Andersson was Detroit’s third round selection (88th overall) in the 2007 National Hockey League Entry Draft.  The 6-2, 198-lb. forward is currently in his second season with Grand Rapids.  In 109 career AHL contests, he has registered 15 goals and 25 assists for 40 points.  The Munkedal, Sweden, native is expected to make his NHL debut tonight when the Red Wings take on the St. Louis Blues at 7:30 p.m. at Joe Louis Arena (Versus, FOX Sports Detroit and 97.1 The Ticket).
