DETROIT - The Detroit Red Wings today recalled right wing Filip Zadina from the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins and assigned left wing Adam Erne to the Griffins.

Zadina, 23, tallied one goal in two appearances with the Griffins during his conditioning assignment. The 6-foot, 190-pound forward has been limited to nine games with the Red Wings this season due to injury, recording four penalty minutes, 12 shots and nine hits in 13:57 average time on ice. The 6-foot, 190-pound forward skated in 74 games with the Red Wings in 2021-22 and logged a career-high 24 points (10-14-24) and 10 penalty minutes. Zadina ranked among the team leaders last season with 10 goals (10th), 14 assists (9th), four power play goals (6th), eight power play points (T5th) and 154 shots (6th). Originally selected by the Red Wings in the first round (sixth overall) of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, Zadina has totaled 61 points (25-36-61) and 16 penalty minutes in 169 NHL games, while adding 52 points (26-26-52) and 26 penalty minutes in 82 AHL contests with the Griffins since 2018-19. He also notched 14 points (8-6-14) and 18 penalty minutes in 17 games with HC Ocelari Trinec of the Czech Extraliga before returning to Detroit for the start of the 2020-21 NHL season.
Prior to being drafted by the Red Wings, Zadina spent the 2017-18 campaign with the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, racking up 82 points (44-38-82) in 57 games to place seventh overall in league scoring. He also led QMJHL rookies in scoring and earned a spot on the QMJHL First All-Star Team and All-Rookie Team, while winning the Mike Bossy Trophy as the league's best professional prospect. Zadina also tied for the team lead in playoff scoring by collecting 12 points (5-7-12) in nine appearances. On the international circuit, the Pardubice, Czech Republic, native represented his country at the 2018 and 2019 IIHF World Junior Championships. At the 2018 tournament, Zadina led the Czechs with seven goals and eight points in seven games, earning a spot on the WJC All-Star Team. He previously won a gold medal at the 2016 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament after posting a tournament-best seven points (5-2-7) in four games. Zadina made his professional debut with HC Pardubice in the top Czech professional league, contributing two points (1-1-2) over 27 games from 2015-17.
Erne, 27, has skated in 43 games with the Red Wings this season, totaling 14 points (6-8-14), eight penalty minutes and a team-high 122 hits in 13:56 average time on ice. The 6-foot-1, 212-pound forward enjoyed a breakout season in his second campaign with Detroit in 2020-21, ranking among the team leaders with 11 goals (T1st), nine assists (T5th), 26 penalty minutes (T3rd), three power play goals (T1st), six power play points (T2nd), 71 shots (9th), a 15.5 shooting percentage (5th) and 82 hits (1st) in 45 appearances. Erne also authored Detroit's longest point streak of the 2020-21 season, recording eight points (5-3-8) in an eight-game span from April 1-15. Originally selected by Tampa Bay in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Erne has compiled 85 points (38-47-85) and 158 penalty minutes in 337 games between the Lightning and Red Wings since 2016-17. He has also logged 88 points (41-47-88) and 156 penalty minutes in 150 AHL games with the Syracuse Crunch from 2013-18. Erne helped the Crunch reach the 2017 Calder Cup Final, adding 10 points (3-7-10) in 22 postseason contests.
Prior to turning professional, Erne spent four seasons with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Quebec Remparts, racking up 275 points (118-157-275) and 266 penalty minutes in 240 games from 2011-15. In his final season with Quebec, he tallied a career-high 86 points (41-45-86) and 102 penalty minutes in 60 regular-season contests before notching 30 points (21-9-30) in 22 playoff games to win the Guy Lafleur Trophy as the postseason's most valuable player. Additionally, Erne registered six points (3-3-6) in five games when the Remparts hosted the 2015 Memorial Cup. Before starting his major junior career, Erne collected 18 points (10-8-18) and 49 penalty minutes in 45 games with the United States Hockey League's Indiana Ice in 2010-11. The New Haven, Conn., native represented Team USA at the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship, recording one assist in five appearances. He also played for his country at the 2012 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, posting six points (5-1-6) in four games.
