DETROIT –  The Detroit Red Wings today announced that defenseman Brendan Smith has been recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL).  Smith, 22, appeared in four pre-season games for the Red Wings this year, recording 0G-2A-2P.

Detroit (2-0-0) will be looking to continue their red hot start to the 2011-12 NHL campaign on Thursday, October 13 (puck drop – 8:00 p.m.) when the Vancouver Canucks (1-0-1) pay a visit to Joe Louis Arena for an early-season battle between reigning division champs. Fewer than 500 seats remain available for tomorrow night’s contest, at which the first 7,500 fans in attendance will receive a free Pavel Datsyuk bobblehead courtesy of AT&T. Tickets to all upcoming Red Wings home games are available at the Joe Louis Arena Box Office (313-396-7575), all Ticketmaster outlets (800-745-3000), and online at DetroitRedWings.com.
