Red Wings reassign Brunnstrom to Grand Rapids

DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings today announced that forward Fabian Brunnstrom has been reassigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL). Brunnstrom, 26, has appeared in four games for Detroit (0G-1A-1P-2PIM) and one game with Grand Rapids (1G-0A-1P-0PIM) thus far on the 2011-12 campaign, his first with the organization.


Currently 11-7-1 on the season, the Red Wings will battle the Flames tomorrow night at Joe Louis Arena (special Thanksgiving Eve puck drop – 7:00 p.m.). Tickets to this game are available at the JLA Box Office (313-396-7575), all Ticketmaster (800-745-3000) outlets and online at

Longtime Red Wings broadcaster and Foster Hewitt Award recipient Mickey Redmond and Director of Scouting and Hockey Hall of Fame inductee Mark Howe will be honored during a special pre-game ceremony at The Joe tomorrow night.  All fans in attendance for this Western Conference showdown will receive a free commemorative poster featuring both Redmond and Howe.

Delegates from the HHOF will also be on hand for the proceedings on Wednesday, with several display cases featuring memorabilia from throughout Redmond and Howe’s careers set to be erected on the main concourse at JLA (behind section 106). Various artifacts from the Hall’s extensive collection of hockey-related paraphernalia will also be on display for fans to check out.
