DETROIT – The 11-time Stanley Cup® Champion Detroit Red Wings announced today that tickets for the 2014 Stanley Cup® Playoffs will go on sale to the general public on Friday, April 4 at 10:00 a.m. Red Wings fans will be able to purchase tickets for each of the team’s first two potential opening-round home contests against a to-be-determined opponent.
The Red Wings are seeking a playoff berth for the 23rd straight year (1991-present), which is the longest active playoff streak in all of North American major professional sports. In comparison, the longest active playoff streaks in the three additional major professional sports leagues are 17 years for the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs, five years for the NFL’s Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots and three years for MLB’s Detroit Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals.
The Red Wings currently sit in the first Wild Card position in the Eastern Conference standings with 86 points (36-26-14) and six games remaining on the regular season schedule.
Red Wings playoff tickets can be purchased at the Joe Louis Arena Box Office (313-471-7575), all Ticketmaster outlets (800-745-3000) and online at DetroitRedWings.com.
