SUNRISE, Fla. -- It appears that the Red Wings will get another veteran defenseman back for Saturday night's game in Florida.

Jonathan Ericsson has not played this season due to an upper-body injury but is likely to draw into the lineup against the Panthers.

Green has been out since training camp with a virus but is now feeling good enough to join the team on the trip and practice a bit.

Evgeny Svechnikov undergoes successful knee surgery

Detroit, MI…Detroit Red Wings forward Evgeny Svechnikov underwent successful surgery on his right knee today. The surgery was performed by Dr. Kyle Anderson. Svechnikov required anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction and is expected to miss 5-6 months.

Svechnikov, 21, was placed on non-roster injured reserve on Oct. 1 after suffering the knee injury in Detroit's preseason finale, a 5-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sept. 29 at Little Caesars Arena. In 16 career regular season appearances with the Red Wings, Svechnikov has tallied four points (2-2-4), 19 shots on goal and averaged 9:22 of ice time per game.

Canadiens offense comes to life against struggling Red Wings

MONTREAL -- One of these nights, things will start to break in the Red Wings' favor. Unfortunately, Monday against the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre was not one of those nights.

As usual, the Red Wings started the game holding their own, but a penalty shot goal by Jonathan Drouin at 7:13 of the first period swung momentum Montreal's way and the Canadiens didn't look back, cruising to a 7-3 victory.

MONTREAL - Mired in a winless streak of five games to begin the season, it was only a matter of time before the Red Wings began to tinker with their lineup.

Michael Rasmussen, Detroit's first-round pick, ninth overall, in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, will be a healthy scratch for tonight's game against the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre.
