Detroit is 5-9-2 in its past 16 games following a 3-2 shootout win at the Minnesota Wild on Saturday. The Red Wings are tied with the Boston Bruins for third place in the Atlantic Division, but they have one game in hand. Goalie Petr Mrazek is expected to start after Jimmy Howard played in St. Paul. Howard made 22 saves through overtime, and then denied six of eight Wild shooters to earn his first victory since March 22.
"I just wanted to go out there and give the guys a chance to win and to have fun," Howard said. "That's why we do this; it's fun to us. That's what I tried to get back to."
Center Pavel Datsyuk returned to the lineup after sitting two straight games and seven of nine because of a lower-body injury. Despite missing 18 games because of injuries, Datsyuk's 60 points (24 goals) are second on the Red Wings. Forward Stephen Weiss has two goals and three assists in the past six games, and forward Gustav Nyquist has four goals in the past seven.
