Puck drop between the Red Wings (21-18-8; 50 points) and Islanders (23-22-5; 51 points) is set for 7 p.m., with TV broadcast coverage airing exclusively on ESPN. Ken Kal and Paul Woods will have the call on the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket in Detroit).
Detroit got off to a strong start in the first half of a back-to-back road set on Thursday
with a 4-3 win over the Montreal Canadiens in overtime. Robby Fabbri scored the game-winning goal at 2:36 of the extra frame, while Moritz Seider recorded three assists for his fifth multi-point game of the season.

"I think we played a full game," said Red Wings goalie Ville Husso, who made 20 saves in his fourth consecutive start. "They had a couple chances and they were lucky to bury them. But overall, we played really well. For me, it was just to stay focused there. Not too many shots today, and guys did a hell of a job defending."
Thursday's result marked the Red Wings' second overtime win in as many games, marking the first time since Nov. 17-21, 2018, that Detroit has defeated back-to-back teams in overtime. The Red Wings are 3-1-1 in their past five games, and enter the final game prior to the All-Star break just seven points out of the second and final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.
"The guys wanted to play important games late in the season," head coach Derek Lalonde said. "Here we are before the All-Star Break right in the middle of a bunch of teams, and a team we're chasing in New York."
