DETROIT -- The day after Christmas, the Red Wings hit the road for back-to-back games against the Nashville Predators and Colorado Avalanche.

It's the first time that the Wings will play in Nashville and Denver, since defeating the Predators and Avalanche in consecutive playoff series last spring. The Wings and Avs have played once this season. Colorado defeated the Wings, 3-2, on Dec. 15 at Joe Louis Arena.

Last season, the Red Wings held a stranglehold on the Avs, sweeping the four-game season series, out-scoring their archrivals, 11-2.

Despite the loss earlier this month, the Wings maintain a 52-37-6 all-time series lead over the Avs.

Saturday's game marks the Wings' return to the Sommet Center since they eliminated the Predators from the Stanley Cup playoffs in a six-game Western Conference quarterfinal series.

In eight regular-season games last season, the Red Wings finished with a 5-3-0 mark against Nashville, out-scoring them by a slim 21-19 margin. Detroit was led offensively in the season series by Johan Franzen, who scored six goals and had two assists in the eight games.

Detroit holds a 35-13-9 all-time series record against the Predators.
