Red Wings & Canadiens Alumni bring back memories

DETROIT -- The Montreal Canadiens Alumni tallied three straight goals in the third period and another in overtime to defeat the Detroit Red Wings Alumni 6-5 in the Second Annual Alumni Showdown in Hockeytown Saturday night at Joe Louis Arena.

Pat Verbeek recorded a goal and an assist on his way to earning the Red Wings Most Valuable Player award for the night. Sergio Momesso was named the Canadiens Most Valuable Player after registering two goals and one assist.

Other goal-scorers for the Wings Alumni included Dino Ciccarelli, Marcel Dionne, Lee Norwood and Paul Ysebaert, while Doug Brown and Steve Duchesne each added two assists. Chris Nilan scored twice for the Canadiens Alumni. Mark Napier and Gilbert Delorme also scored for Montreal. Goaltender Eddie Mio made 39 saves for the Red Wings.

Fox Sports Net Detroit will broadcast the game at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22.
