DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings today recalled right wing Teemu Pulkkinen from the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins.
Pulkkinen, 22, leads the Griffins and ranks 14th overall in the AHL with 51 points (26-25-51) in 60 games this season. The Vantaa, Finland, native currently sits first among AHL rookies in goals and second in points after becoming Grand Rapids’ all-time leader in goals by a rookie last weekend. Pulkkinen is currently riding a six-game point streak with the Griffins, registering nine points (7-2-9) since Feb. 26. Originally drafted by Detroit in the fourth round (111th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, the 5-foot-10, 198-lb., winger spent the last four seasons with Jokerit of Finland’s SM-Liiga, totaling 128 points (49-79-128) in 185 games.
The Red Wings (29-23-13) will host the Edmonton Oilers on Friday at 7:30 p.m. (FOX Sports Detroit/97.1 The Ticket) before visiting the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. (NBCSN/97.1 The Ticket).
