A power outage at HP Pavilion left the San Jose Sharks and Red Wings in the dark during what should have been their morning skates Tuesday.
The Sharks are still scheduled to host the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday (10:30 p.m. EST), but a loss of power at about 8:15 a.m. PST threw off the morning practices of both teams off schedule. There was enough light for a few of the players for each team to get on the ice, but formal practices were called off.
David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury news reported the only way the ice could be affected is if the power remained out for 6-8 hours. Emergency power is keeping the arena dimly lit for now as crews worked to solve the problem.
