DETROIT - Fourth-seeded Penn State defeated second-seeded Wisconsin, 2-1 in double overtime, to claim the Big Ten Men's Ice Hockey Tournament championship Saturday, March 18, in the final college hockey game to be played at historic Joe Louis Arena. With the win, Penn State receives the Big Ten's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Freshman forward Liam Folkes' second goal of the game at 6:43 of the second overtime sealed Penn State's first-ever Big Ten Tournament title. The goal came after Penn State freshman goalie Peyton Jones, who was named the Big Ten Tournament's Most Outstanding Player, made 19 of his 51 saves in the extra sessions for his second-consecutive double overtime victory. Folkes got Penn State on the board late in the first period, beating Wisconsin freshman goalie Jack Berry, who made 33 saves in the loss.
