The Red Wings will host the Florida Panthers for the second time in ten days tonight at Joe Louis Arena. Detroit is coming off a shootout loss against the Maple Leafs on Wednesday night, where the Red Wings peppered 42 shots against Reimer, but just couldn't capitalize. The loss snapped a three-game win streak for the club, who've used a 11-3-2 stretch in their past 16 games to become a top team in the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference.

Forward Justin Abdelkader (shoulder) practiced Thursday, but coach Mike Babcock said his return isn't likely until next week, and the Red Wings placed him on injured reserve, retroactive to Nov. 30. Defenseman Danny DeKeyser is day-to-day with an upper-body injury that will keep him out for at least this weekend.

“That's obviously a tough break for us,” said Gustav Nyquist, of the injury to DeKeyser. “He's been real good for us. I love the way he plays. He can really skate, he's got real good speed and good heads-up play and knows when to make a play and when to play safe back there. I think for his age, he plays a real mature game and we'll miss him for sure.”
