The Red Wings are coming off a convincing 5-2 victory against the Stars on Thursday. Tonight will be the finale of a four-game homestand when the Rangers visit the Motor City. The last time these two teams met up, New York defeated the Red Wings in overtime, 4-3 at MSG. The Red Wings are poised to settle the score, after Tomas Tatar sent their last meeting into overtime with 7.7 seconds left in regulation.
Since November 5th, the Red Wings power play has been red hot. In the past 14 games Detroit's power play is 19 for 58 (32.8%), with power-play goals in 12 of those games; the Red Wings have at least two power-play goals in a game seven times. "Huge for us get a good balance of scoring," forward Stephen Weiss said, "Thirty teams would love to take that, power play got another one. All four lines were good. We did a real good job getting back where we want to be." Detroit is 2-1-0 on its homestand and 7-2-0 in its past nine games.
