1960: Gordie Howe’s third-period assist gives him 1,092 career points for both regular-season and playoffs. It sets and NHL record, breaking the mark of 1,091 set by Maurice Richard.

1974: A record snow storm postpones the Red Wings' scheduled home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Olympia Stadium. The Detroit area received 18.4 inches of snow, the highest snowfall recorded in a single day in December. The game was eventually played with the Wings posting a 5-3 victory on Feb. 9, 1975.
