The Red Wings will look to put an end to their recent five game skid (0-3-2) when the Colorado Avalanche come into town. Detroit dropped their previous game against the Islanders, where goaltender Jimmy Howard left the game due to an lower-body injury. Petr Mrazek replaced Howard and will likely get his fourth start of the season tonight against the Avalanche.

"You have to be ready all the time and that’s how the second goalie is,” Mrazek said. “They told me I was going in, so I just stretch out and get ready.”

The Avalanche are giving up 3.06 GA per game, so the Red Wings will look to get their offense back on track tonight by firing a lot of shots on net. "We didn’t throw enough pucks in there. We’ve had that problem now for two games," said defenseman Niklas Kronwall. "We got to get back to doing what we did before. Throw more pucks in there, play a little more desperate and get back to our winning ways.” Last season Colorado and Detroit split their two games with the road team winning each time, with the Mule and Datsyuk each scoring twice in their 4-2 victory at the Pepsi Center.
