Michigan First Credit Union Morning Skate Update

by Staff Writer / Detroit Red Wings

Johan Franzen
Johan Franzen will play tonight after missing a month with a concussion.

"I thought I was going to be out five days because it wasn’t much
of a hit and that’s usually how long it takes before you get rid of
the headache. It just wouldn’t go away. Just cross my fingers now
and hopefully it’s going to stay away."

Pavel Datsyuk
Pavel Datsyuk is still not ready to play, but says he is feeling better.

"At the beginning I'm thinking I’ll miss just one game, but I can’t
start playing. It's surprising. I don’t think it’s so serious, but it’s
kept me out a few weeks."

"Pav is feeling better every day, but not good enough to play. We’re waiting for him to tell us he’s good to go."
- Ken Holland

Mikael Samuelsson was waived yesterday. He cleared today and
will report to Grand Rapids. The Wings get $100,000 in cap relief,
but it does open up a roster spot for Mule.

"I said to Mike Babcock dress the 12 forwards you think give us the best chance to beat the Florida Panthers."
- Ken Holland on opting to keep the kids up over Samuelsson

Joakim Andersson is out again with a hip-flexor,
but hopes to play Tuesday in Philly.
