MacDonald reassigned to Griffins

DETROIT – The Red Wings today announced that goalie Joey MacDonald has been reassigned the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL) after dressing as Ty Conklin’s backup in Columbus last night. In five appearances with Grand Rapids this season, MacDonald has amassed a 3-2-0 record to go along with a 1.98 G.A.A., a .935 SV% and one shutout.

In 87 career NHL games with Detroit, Boston, Toronto and the New York Islanders, MacDonald has earned 23 victories in addition to a 3.19 G.A.A. and a .902 SV%. Last season, the Pictou, NS, native went 5-5-3 with the Red Wings while registering a career-best G.A.A. of 2.58 and a SV% of .917. Detroit re-signed MacDonald to a two-year contact extension this past summer.
Currently 5-2-0 on the 2011-12 campaign, the Red Wings will next face the San Jose Sharks on Friday, October 28 at Joe Louis Arena (puck drop – 7:30 p.m.).
