Kindl returns to Detroit

DETROIT – The Red Wings have recalled defenseman Jakub Kindl from Grand Rapids. The rookie blue liner is coming back to the NHL in time for the Wings to avoid placing him on waivers.

Kindl, 23, started this season with the Red Wings replacing injured defenseman Brian Rafalski, who missed 10 games with a knee injury.

Kindl, the 19th overall pick in the 2005 draft, has played in 11 regular-season games with the Red Wings and is a minus-3 with 12 penalty minutes.

In his two-week conditioning stint with the AHL’s Grifins, he played in seven games while compiling three points, and was a minus-4 with four penalty minutes.
