Huggies, NHL face-off against diaper need

by Staff Writer / Detroit Red Wings
Today, 1 in 3 American and 1 in 5 Canadian mothers struggles with diaper need, and have had to cut back on basics – food, utilities such as heat or electricity, or even childcare – in order to provide enough diapers for their babies.*

The critical issue of diaper need prompted Huggies to develop Every Little Bottom – an initiative with the single mission to help get diapers to babies in need in the U.S. and Canada.

WHO: Huggies® Every Little Bottom and the National Hockey League (NHL) have teamed up to launch “Hockey for Huggies,” a partnership to help collect diapers and monetary donations for moms and babies in need.

WHAT: In support of Hockey for Huggies, all 30 clubs in the NHL are hosting diaper drives throughout the month of February.

The Red Wings are collecting diapers at their home game on Thursday, February 24 to benefit Detroit Area Diaper Bank, an organization that distributes diapers to local families in need. Fans are encouraged to bring an unopened pack of diapers to the game or make a cash donation in exchange for a chance to win prizes.

Fans can also text the name of their favorite NHL team (e.g. for Detroit Red Wings, text “Detroit,” “Red,” “RedWings” or “Wings”) to 501501 in the US and 20222 in Canada to donate $5 and help diaper babies in their community.  For a calendar of all Hockey for Huggies diaper drive nights or to donate online, visit
