DETROIT
-- The Fabulous Fox Theatre will shine with pride and get behind the home team starting today when it turns its magnificently-restored FOX Tower Sign to red to cheer on the Detroit Red Wings in their playoff run for the Stanley Cup.

"The playoffs are an exciting time for the entire Red Wings' organization, and our fans around the world," said Christopher Ilitch, president and CEO of Ilitch Holdings, Inc. "In the heart of Hockeytown, the Stanley Cup Playoffs add to the vitality of downtown and provides an important economic boost to the city. Detroit is a great sports town ? from the MLB All-Star Game to Super Bowl XL to the World Series, and now, once again with the start of the 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Detroit is the place to be for major sports action."

The FOX Tower sign will be programmed to run completely in the color red during all playoff games, both home and away. The signage, originally restored and unveiled in January 2006, has the ability to be computer-programmed to reflect a specific season, event or, in the case of the Red Wings, light up the Detroit skyline in support of its hometown team. "We invite and encourage Red Wings' fans everywhere to ?Join the Red Wave' by wearing red during the playoffs as a way to help cheer them on to victory," Ilitch said. "We want Joe Louis Arena ? and all of downtown ? to become a ?sea of red' to show the world that Detroit has the greatest fans!"

Designated "Hockeytown's Official Fan Headquarters," Hockeytown Café is the place to be before, during and after all playoff games this season, with the only live-feed from Joe Louis Arena in town! Consistently named the best sports bar in Detroit, Hockeytown Café offers the ultimate sports viewing experience with 63-inch plasma TVs, daily food and drink specials and special playoff Red Wings' merchandise available. Several media outlets are expected to broadcast from Hockeytown Café during the playoffs.

"Detroit fans are the best in sports and I'm thrilled with the passion and commitment they show our team," Wings coach Mike Babcock said. "Fans play an important role in our home arena during the playoffs and we ask all Red Wings' fans to show support, wear red and ?Join the Red Wave' to give us an important edge in this year's playoffs."

The Red Wings will take on the Calgary Flames on Thursday, April 12 at 7 p.m. at Joe Louis Arena in Game 1 of the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for a special playoff pre-game show at 6 p.m.

Game 2 will be held at the Joe at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 15 and the pre-game show begins at noon. Limited tickets are available at the Joe Louis Arena Box Office, all Ticketmaster retail locations, Hockeytown Authentics in Troy, Hockeytown Café, by phone at 248-645-6666 or online at DetroitRedWings.com.
