Hey Red Wings fans - who's ready to enjoy a Winter Wonderland at Little Caesars Arena? The second annual Hockeytown Winterfest, presented by Coca-Cola and Meijer, will be hosted on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2020, at the award-winning venue. Access to the indoor and outdoor festival is free, open to the public and available for fans of all ages.
The festival will be open at 10 a.m., with Detroit Red Wings season ticket holders, premium suite holders and corporate partners receiving special entry one hour before the event begins at 11 a.m. The event will be open until 4 p.m.
While admittance to the Hockeytown Winterfest is free, fans are encouraged to reserve a mobile ticket online. Fans are also encouraged to load tickets into their mobile wallet before leaving home to ensure seamless entry to Little Caesars Arena.
The festival will feature a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, including skating opportunities on the Little Caesars Arena main ice. Multiple interactive hockey zones and outdoor winter inflatables will be available for fans to enjoy, with food and non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages available for purchase both on the exterior of the building and inside the Via concourse. To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all attendees, staff will be in place to check IDs and provide wristbands for fans who are at least 21 years of age.
New to the on-site programming this year will be a curated mobile museum experience celebrating over 200 years of black achievement in hockey. The museum celebrates today's stars and looks back at the trail blazers who made history. The Black Hockey History Tour will be available for fan interaction at Hockeytown Winterfest, and previously at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History on Saturday, Jan. 18.
The week of Hockeytown Winterfest, a link will be distributed to all registered fans with an invitation to reserve open skating times. Those interested who also have their own skates are encouraged to bring them, as rental quantities are limited.
Other activities will include live music, an Xbox gaming zone, caricature artists, face painters, marshmallow roasting, Red Wings alumni autograph signings and much more. Numerous photo opportunities will be available outside and throughout Little Caesars Arena, including a Coca-Cola Polar Bear selfie station. Other new additions to the programming will include a First Responders zone, an ice carving demonstration, box hockey and giant checkers.
