Detroit, MI…Detroit Red Wings forward Evgeny Svechnikov underwent successful surgery on his right knee today. The surgery was performed by Dr. Kyle Anderson. Svechnikov required anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction and is expected to miss 5-6 months.

Svechnikov, 21, was placed on non-roster injured reserve on Oct. 1 after suffering the knee injury in Detroit's preseason finale, a 5-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sept. 29 at Little Caesars Arena. In 16 career regular season appearances with the Red Wings, Svechnikov has tallied four points (2-2-4), 19 shots on goal and averaged 9:22 of ice time per game.
