Emmerton re-assigned to Grand Rapids

DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings today assigned center Cory Emmerton to the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins.

Emmerton, 25, has skated in a total of 18 games with Detroit this season, recording two points (0-2-2). The St. Thomas, Ontario, native has also played in 43 games with the Griffins this season and has tallied 35 points (14-21-35), which ranks fifth on the club. Emmerton has suited up in 139 NHL games since 2010-11, totaling 21 points (12-9-21) and 22 penalty minutes. In 18 NHL playoff games, Emmerton has recorded two points (1-1-2). The 6-foot, 195-lb., center has totaled 146 points (48-98-146) and 80 penalty minutes in 260 career AHL games.

The Red Wings (33-24-14) will play four straight games against Eastern Conference rivals starting tonight with a tilt in Columbus against the Blue Jackets at 7:30 p.m. (NBCSN/FOX Sports Detroit/97.1 The Ticket) before returning to Joe Louis Arena on Thursday to host the Montreal Canadiens at 7:00 p.m. (FOX Sports Detroit/97.1 The Ticket) on the team’s second-annual ‘Wings for Wishes’ game to benefit Make-A-Wish® Michigan.
