Detroit's Franzen out with head injury

by Staff Writer / Detroit Red Wings

DALLAS -- Detroit center Johan Franzen left the Red Wings' 4-1 loss against the Dallas Stars in the first period Thursday night because of a head injury.

Franzen was down on the ice with 8:29 left in the opening period following a hit by Dallas defenseman Mark Fistric and had to be helped to the bench.

After the game, Franzen called the injury a concussion, but coach Mike Babcock said, "I wouldn't use that word."

"It's not too bad," Franzen said. "I feel OK right now."
